Venue Verdicts

Reported Plaintiff Verdicts

We aggregate verdicts from many different sources, including scraping, purchasing and acquiring directly from law firms. As plaintiff attorneys primarily report their verdicts for marketing purposes, they may not report their small wins (or losses). SigmaSight captures court case verdicts from 2015 through 2024, which will also include bench trial decisions and arbitration awards.

Total Verdicts

The number of reported verdicts we have identified and aggregated within this venue.

Median Reported Plaintiff Verdict

The median is the middle number within the list of reported verdicts in the venue. A median calculation is often used to find the most representative "typical" data point in a set of numbers, particularly when there are some very high or very low numbers that would make the average not represent the typical case well.

Average Reported Plaintiff Verdict

The average reported plaintiff verdict is calculated by adding up all the reported verdicts in the venue and dividing by how many verdicts there are.

Total Awarded

The total awarded is the sum of all the reported verdicts in the venue.

Verdict Size Histogram

SigmaSight buckets the verdicts into six categories: Under $50k, $50k - $249k, $250k - $999k, $1M - $9M, $10M - $99M, and $100M+.

More About Reported Plaintiff Verdicts

We estimate that we have aggregated 80% of plaintiff tort verdicts over $50K for the last 10 years and that those verdicts cover roughly 90% of total dollars awarded via verdict.

Our verdict data enables our users to understand relative verdict sizes across venues and attorneys. It also enables our users to evaluate performance of venues and attorneys in terms of the non-economic damages awards they produce.
